SOTA Student Government

very important step to help secure and enhance one’s future. Student Government Association has created a

RECAP OF
THE PHOTOJOURNALIST PROJECT.
NOTE
THAT THE GRAPHIC ORGANIZER AND SHORT
ESSAY IS DUE FROM EVERYONE THIS THURSDAY.
IMPORTANT: ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN FRIDAY'S
FIELD TRIP MUST PRESENT ON THURSDAY.
1. If you were in class on Friday, you spent the time exploring the works
of the following photojournalists.
2.
You chose three that appealed to you and wrote down their
names in order of preference.
3.
Today you researching the one of your selection. This is listed at the very end
of the blog. There are a couple of duplicates in period 5. My
error. If you
did not give me a name, select one from the list that has not been taken from
someone in your class.
4.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday you will have time in class
to research and organize your project, which will consist of:
a. Researching the biographical information on
your journalist, noting significant influences in their work
and philosophical perspectives. You will use this information to
write a 200 word background report on your selected photojournalist.
b.
Creating a power point or Prezi presentation consisting of seven
slides: a
title slide that includes an image of the photojournalist with his or her name
and life dates and a quote from the photographer, followed by 6 images taken by
the journalist.
That
is a total of 7 images....no more. Only one image should be on a slide,
not a compilation.
With accompanying notes, you will give an historical overview of your
journalist, noting particularly the significance of their work. As well, you
should be able to accurately and objectively describe the images, as well as
putting them into historical context and location.
Your analysis
point is 1) what has been selected or deflected and why.
Be able to answer the question, why does the image works.
Note
power point attributes: NO WHITE BACKGROUNDS
On the slide with the picture of the photographer,
you must include a quote
from the photojournalist.
One very large image per slide and a cut
line only.
Remember that the point of a power point is to support you and your knowledge.
Know your material and talk about it. You may use notes, but should absolutely
not read off a piece of paper. Engage the
audience through your body language, eye contact
and voice.
Presentations are Thursday and
Friday, March 26 and 27. Yup, we'll probably run over to after break, but
we'll go by volunteers first and then by drawing. So if your name is called- or
you are not listed with a LEGAL absence- you'll receive a generous 50 points.
So what does everyone need
to turn in exactly on Thursday, March 26?
1. A graphic organizer, a copy of which is
located at the end of this blog.
2. Your minimum 200
word background paragraph on your selected photographer. Please include 3
sources- no Wikipedia!
3. On the 26th you should be ready to share out your power point to
the class.
NOTE THAT THERE WILL
BE NO CLASS TIME ON THE 26th to use a computer.
