Friday / Monday February 6 and 9: Tabloid Journalism day 2....looking at sources



Learning Targets: 
1. Students will draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research.
2. Students will conduct a short  research projects to answer a question, synthesizing multiple sources on the subject, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.

Read 5 articles from 5 different tabloids. (That's a sum total of 5)Take notes as you read in terms of 
1.content
2.organization
3. tone
4. language 
5. syntax.

 How do these compare to mainstream articles? 
In approximately 300 words, respond to these questions in essay format: What commonalities do you find within these articles? What ethical problems do you note? What purpose do these writings serve? 

You must include specific evidence from your readings.
  
Note you are writing 1- 300 word essay. What should you look for in the tabloid articles?  syntax,vocabulary, jargon, punctuation, photos used, target audience and topics covered. How do these compare to main stream news articles? What evidence is used in the articles? statistics, graphs?  Who is being quoted? Are they authoritative sources?
