Wednesday, January 14 slogans

Learning Target: I can determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text in which the rhetoric is articulated effectively, analyzing how style and content contribute to the power,
persuasiveness, or beauty of the text.

Reminder that on Thursday- that's tomorrow- you have a matching quiz on the 11 advertising techniques that were on Monday

Slogans in Advertising
When well-used and oft-repeated, a slogan can become part of the fabric of a brand. But how do you build a strong connection between slogan and brand? It’s not simply a matter of tacking a slogan onto an ad, because an ad with a slogan isn’t necessarily more effective than an ad without one. A slogan that is merely an end-line or sign-off to an ad is unlikely to make a contribution to the success of either the advertising or the brand; the creative slogan must integrate the brand and slogan in such a way that the slogan can strengthen branding, or have some other effect.

Have some fun. Open up a word document and see if you can identify the product associated with the slogan.
These are due in class today. No extension, except for those who have required extensions.
