  1. In class today we are working on mock interviews. Three people will take on character roles, whilst everyone else will be a journalists.
The simulation should help you realize the challenge of applying professional judgment during controversial situations. The information is complex and at times this makes it difficult to to take accurate notes. Careful with name spelling or including libelous content taken from the gossip supplied by the character Sherri Bigalow.

    What's happening exactly?

    1. I will introduce your three characters: Assistant Principal Marjorie Carlson, Sherri Bigalow and Jeff Gregory. If you are playing one of these characters, please complete the alternative assignment that follows. You are also excused from the note taking.

      2. You will have a note-taking graphic organizer. After Ms. Carlson reads her press statement, everyone will write three questions on the back of the organizer that they wish to ask the three characters. Please keep these, as they will be turned in at the completed news story.
    1. 3. We'll then conduct the interviews. Take notes; it does not matter who asked the question. Be aware of the 5 W's and H.

    2. 4. When the interview is completed, you will use your notes to write an approximately 150-200 word story.  Remember to follow the correct format: lead, quotations, headline and byline. This is due by midnight on Friday. Plan accordingly, if you are excused for the music performance.

ANYONE WHO IS ABSENT SHOULD COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING ASSIGNMENT in lieu of Thursday and Friday's work.
Your completed news story should be approximately 150-200 words.
